Nutrition HQ Product Information

Nutrition HQ manufactures one product known as Tri-Matrix. This product was formerly known as Tri-Stack.   It comes in capsule form and is sold in bottles of one hundred pills for about $50 a bottle.

Nutrition HQ also makes a version of this supplement that is specific to the needs of women called Tri-Matrix for Women. Nutrition HQ claims that the product is an excellent weight loss supplement because it suppresses appetite, increases metabolism and thermogenesis, and stabilizes blood sugar levels to control sugar cravings

  • Tri-Matrix’s main ingredient is Ephedra, which, while known for its ability to help individuals lose weight rapidly, has been banned by the FDA due to a wide range of negative side effects it can lead to.
  • Tri-Matrix also contains other ingredients that help with weight loss. These include Pomegranate Extract, Grape Seed Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamon Extract, Green Tea, EGCG, Black Tea, and Hoodia.
  • Of particular interest is the fact that Tri-Matrix contains both Ephedra and Hoodia, which is another popular weight loss herb. Hoodia, however, has less significant side effects and has not been banned by the FDA.

Tri-Matrix is the only weight loss supplement that contains both of these herbal ingredients.

Nutrition HQ Warning Label

Despite the fact that Nutrition HQ says they believe their product to be safe, their warning label is very extensive and might have you thinking twice about using this product. Warnings on the label state that you should consult a physician before taking the supplement.

Pregnant or nursing women should not take Tri-Matrix, nor should anyone with high blood pressure, heart disease, liver disease, thyroid disease, diabetes, anemia, nervousness, anxiety, headaches, depression, any other psychiatric condition, glaucoma, difficulty urinating, prostate enlargement, or seizures.

Nutrition HQ advises that you discontinue use of Tri-Matrix and consult a doctor if you experience rapid heartbeat, dizziness, heart palpitations, sleeplessness, nervousness, headaches, shortness of breath, or tingling sensations.

Nutrition HQ and Additional Concerns about Products Containing Ephedra

In case the warning label on the product itself is not enough to scare you into not using Tri-Matrix perhaps what the FDA says about Ephedra might.

  • Ephedra has been used for centuries in ancient Chinese medicine for treating respiratory ailments from asthma to the common cold. The World Health Organization has deemed it okay for treating these types of illnesses.
  • More recently a link was made between Ephedra and weight loss. Supplement companies began adding it to their weight loss products in increasingly larger amounts.
  • Patients taking these weight loss supplements began experiencing side effects ranging from mildly increased heart rate to heart attacks and strokes.
  • Studies on Ephedra have found that it causes the increased release of the neurotransmitter norepinephrine in the body and stimulates receptors, not only in the lungs, but also in the heart and blood vessels.
  • This can lead to a wide variety of dangerous side effects that include nausea, headaches and dizziness, anxiety, psychosis, kidney stones, tremors, dry mouth, irregular heartbeat, permanent heart damage, high blood pressure, sleeplessness, nervousness, decreased appetite, sweating, increased urination, and heat stroke.
  • In people with preexisting conditions, Ephedra use can cause more serious strokes, heart attacks, and even death. Ephedra can also cause very adverse reactions when taken along with other supplements or medications.

Tri-Matrix continues to be sold on a few internet sites in the U.S. specializing in banned Ephedra products, and online in foreign countries where Ephedra remains legal.

Nutrition HQ and What to Avoid When Taking Ephedra

Although Ephedra alone can cause some very serious side effects, when combined with certain substances the risk of those side effects is multiplied many times.

If you are taking a supplement such as Nutrition HQ’s Tri-Matrix you should make certain not to consume caffeine containing substances such as green tea, kola nut, guarana, and yerba mate, colas or coffee.

It would also be wise to avoid amphetamines, cold medicines containing pseudoephedrine, antidepressants, St. John’s Wort, aspirin, blood pressure medications, diabetes medications, and narcotics .
