In addition, if you look at the nutritional value of the products, you will find that they are a bit disappointing for something that is supposed to be healthy. Although they are fat free and cholesterol free, they have 36 grams of carbohydrates and 110mg of sodium.

What’s more interesting is that there is no vitamin A, vitamin C or calcium in their products and they only contain 2% of your daily requirement for iron.

Sharkies and Kids

As mentioned above, Sharkies has a focus on kids. Because of this, you will find that there is a kids corner section on the Sharkies website. Each month they have a contest for the kids to enter.

For example, this month is for kids ages 13 to 18 years old. Each child will write a 500 word essay about a goal that he or she has achieved for themselves. Parents do have to sign a legal waiver that allows Sharkies to publish the stories once they are submitted, regardless of whether the child wins the competition or not.

The winner of the competition receives a one year supply of Sharkies, $200, a Sharkies hat, and a t-shirt. There are 2 winners selected each month and younger children’s essays are not separated from the older kids essays.

Sharkies and Athletes

Sharkies has a special relationship with athletes and provides a section on their website that discusses the different health concerns that athletes have when it comes to the food and snacks that they eat. It’s important to eat healthy so you don’t undermine your workout

These athletes also answer some commonly asked questions regarding their products such as:

  • Aren’t Sharkies just candy?
  • What is the difference between Sharkies and jellybeans?
  • What is the energy source for Sharkies?
  • What is black carrot?

If you are curious about the answer to that last one yourself since black carrot is in so many of the adult products, then you have come to the right place. Basically, black carrot is the juice that comes from a certain turnip. It is a dark purple and it is used as a natural food coloring in Sharkies’ products.

Buying Sharkies Products

You can purchase Sharkies products directly on their website. In addition, you can also find their products from local retailers, although you will want to visit the Sharkies website to find a list of retailers in your area.

In addition, you can use the internet to make your purchase. This is the method that we recommend because this is the best way to find the lowest prices on the Sharkies products that you want to purchase.

Sharkies Cost

As you can imagine, the cost of Sharkies’ products aren’t cheap. For a box of 12 adult sports chews the cost is $17.80 and a box of 12 kid snacks is $18.78. Considering that the average cost of 12 fruit gushers at your local grocery store is $3.50, this is a lot of money!

If you shop around online, however, you will find much lower prices than what you will on the Sharkies’ website. We found a box of 12 adult chews for $13 and kids chews for as low as $14. Even though this is still a bit expensive for a fruit snack, it’s better than paying full price.

Becoming a Sharkies Seller

In addition to selling their products direct and providing fundraising packages, Sharkies is also looking for interested retailers to sell their products. They are specifically looking for sports and specialty stores but they will discuss the possibility with other types of retailers as well.

If you are interested in selling their products, you need to visit the Sharkies website and click on the wholesale & dealer requests link under the products category. You will fill out their request for information form at which time you will also have to provide your corporate tax ID number.
