Weider Fitness was created by the Weider family, known for their body building endeavors, in 1936.

In 1942 the company began marketing a line of barbells and in 1957 first developed and sold nutritional supplements. In 2005 Weider Global Nutrition, LLC was created to support new initiatives and product lines including Weider Pet Health.
