For a high majority of today’s fitness world, their motivation is fueled by cute motivational memes and the alluring promises of a 5-day shred. But those sources have one major flaw: their motivation is only temporary.
That inspirational quote or false promise will only get you through your first set of squats. Once the mental and physical pain of your workout kicks in, those sources of “motivation” will quickly lose their importance.
How can you get lasting motivation? Take Artemis Scantalides‘s advice.
In an Instagram post, Artemis explained her reason for training to become the fittest, strongest version of herself.
After reading the emergency procedures guide on an airplane, Artemis experienced something that is extremely rare after reading those mind-numbing, yet very important, instructions — she was excited!
According to the instructions, in the case of an emergency, Artemis would have to lift a 50-lb. airplane door. That 50-lb. is the exact amount of weight that Artemis uses in her regular kettlebell training.
Needless to say, Artemis was beyond prepared for an emergency! So, in the words of Artemis, “What do I train for? LIFE. THIS is why we lift.”
Check out Artemis’s 22 kg. (50 lb.) kettlebell presses in the video below:
Next time that you’re feeling unmotivated, don’t turn to temporary motivation. Instead, try re-evaluating your personal reasons for training.
We’re confident that re-evaluation will keep your motivation healthy and constantly flowing!
