Children should never be given this herbal supplement as research has not been done to determine if it is safe for those under age 18. A daily dosage should never exceed 1800 mg total, and Hawthorne Berry should never be taken for more than 24 consecutive weeks.

Hawthorne Berry comes in several different forms and the dose will also vary depending on the form you are using. Common forms include pills, capsules, tinctures, teas, and syrup. A typical dose for someone taking pills for heart problems might be 160-900 mg taken daily depending on the severity of the condition. Hawthorne Berry Side Effects

Despite Hawthorne Berry being considered to be among the safest of herbal supplements, some side effects are possible. These are generally mild and include:

  • Nausea

  • Fatigue
  • Lowered blood pressure
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Headache

In very rare cases more severe side effects have been observed and are related to a negative or allergic reaction to the herbal supplement.
