How to Add a Habit Tracker

With Exercise.com’s Habit Tracking feature, you can help clients stay consistent and track daily behaviors directly in your fitness business management platform. This feature helps trainers reinforce accountability and build long-term client engagement. Follow the steps below to add, customize, and manage habits within a client’s plan.

1. Navigate to the Client Calendar

Click the Plans tab to open the client plan where you want to add habits.

2. Click the Habits Icon

Click the Habits icon to open the Habits pane. From here, you can add an existing habit or create a new one.

Search for and select a habit from the Add Habit to Calendar dropdown.

4. Select the Start and End Week

Select the week you want the habit to start and end.

5. Choose Days of the Week

Choose which days of the week you want this habit scheduled.

6. Save the Habit

Click Save to add the habit to the client’s calendar.

7. Create a New Habit

If you don’t see a habit that fits your client’s needs, you can create your own custom habit by clicking New.

8. Enter the Title and Description

Enter a title and description, and optionally customize the image for your new habit.

9. Choose the Start and End Week

Select the week you want the habit to start and end.

10. Choose Days of the Week

Customize which days of the week the habit will be scheduled.

11. Select a Measurement Type

Select a measurement from the Track Over Time via Measurement dropdown list. This allows progress to be tracked automatically when linked to a measurement in the client’s profile.

12. Select an Entry Type

Select the entry type for the habit. For number-based habits, you can set the goal, minimum, and maximum values as well as increments.

For yes/no habits, the user will simply mark whether the habit was completed each day.

13. Adjust Goal Values

You can adjust the values for your Goal, Increment, Minimum, and Maximum settings. For example, if the goal is 8 hours of sleep per night, set the goal to 8 with increments of 0.5.

14. Enable Additional Settings

Enable the checkbox “Consider completed if exceeded the goal?” if you want the habit to be marked as complete when the goal is surpassed.

You can also enable or disable the checkbox “Make this habit a template to use later?” to save the habit for future use.

15. Save the Habit

Click Save to add your new habit to the client’s calendar. You can now add existing habits or create new ones anytime.
