Quad Tendinopathy Stage 100Heavy Slow Resistance Protocol: Quad Tendonopathy
This program is intended for individuals are who are experiencing degenerative tendinopathy of the knee. This program will prioritize load over range of motion in it’s earlier stages, limiting ranges that place the tendon in a state of maximal compression. Some discomfort is expected and normal during this program, as long as symptoms do not last for more than 24 hours. More information on application of the program can be found below.
Perform all repetitions using a 4 second eccentric (down)/ 3 second concentric (up) rep. Your ideal Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE) should be 8/10, which translates to 2-3 reps in reserve after your final rep. If pain exceeds at 5/10 during a set, decrease the load. On weeks with an increase in the range of motion (ROM) the weight you use may stay the same or decease from your previous week.
Acceptable movement alternative: leg press machine, knee extension machine, split squat, back squat
